Christmas Click
Starting Friday, 2nd December with a public launch outside the Pensioners Hall in Ammanford, we are holding a Digital Inclusion fortnight to encourage all to come along and try their hand with laptops, ipads and all the latest gadgets. If you want to know how to set up an email account, to get photos from your camera (or ipad) onto the computer, do online shopping or just want to get the hang of how to turn a computer on - please do visit us.
Indoor Christmas Fayre
As part of the Christmas Click fornight we are holding an Indoor Christmas Fayre at our premises in Tairgwaith which will be full of festive stands - if you want to come and browse to see what you can buy for Christmas, or if you want to sell your goods, £3 is the price for a stand. The Fayre will be from 10.00 am. to 4.00 p.m.
Apart from the Fayre, across the corridor in our main computer suite we will be holding a series of completely FREE taster sessions where you can see how to get your photos onto the computer, how to set up an email address and in fact, everything you may want to know about this marvellous digital age we live in. You will also be able to find out what new courses we are putting on in January.
Enterprise Club
We are delighted to be part of this exciting new project from the Enterprise in the Valleys team.
If you want to know more about Enterprise and what it takes to be self employed, or are toying with the idea of developing a business idea or turning a hobby into a business, then the Enterprise Club could be just the kickstart you need to get you on your way.
Our first Club Meeting was held on Wednesday, 27th July, but we have now changed the day to be the third Tuesday in each month between the times of 11.30 a.m. and 1.30 p.m.
Remaining dates arranged for this year are:
Tuesday, 15th November
.We are not holding a meeting in December as it would be too close to Christmas but will post dates for next year very shortlyl.
If you are over 16 why not pop along during those times and see what it is all about? The aim of the Club is to help people discover enterprise opportunities available to them. No qualifications or previous experience are needed. Completely free - no appointment needed, just come along. Friendly members of the Enterprise team will be here to help, inspire and guide you in a completely informal and non-commital way. And you get a FREE cuppa (and a biscuit if you're really lucky!)

Volunteers Wanted
Living in the Upper Amman Valley? Want to do something for your community?
Canolfan Maerdy is a not-for-profit community organisation based in Tairgwaith. Our aim - to provide facilities to enable local people to access training and employment opportunities and to run a Day Nursery as a social enterprise.
We are looking for volunteers to help us expand our activities: in particular, for local people to join our Board of Trustees. No previous experience in this type of role is necessary and requires only a few hours of commitment per month.
Volunteering can be rewarding and help you develop new skills.

One-Day Workshops and Taster Sessions
If you are thinking of embarking onto one of our Computer classes but do not feel that you want to commit yourself to a 30 week course, why not put your name down for one of our One Day Workshops or 3-hour Taster Sessions. These are not only suitable for building up confidence if you are slightly nervous about learning something new, but are a good way of making new friends. These are run regularly throughout the year as and when we have enough numbers to run a class.
We also run one-day workshops in DeskTop Publishing, Transition to Microsoft Office 2010, Website Creation Made Easy etc.

For those of us wary of venturing out onto the open road, the Amman Valley Trotting Club have very kindly said that we can use their grounds (by arrangement of course) so we can practise in safety and thus build up confidence.
If you are interested, don't delay: summer doesn't last for ever and we should be making the best of the season. If you can pop into our offices in New Road, put your name down on the list on the main notice board or alternatively ring or email Joannemon:
